The Great Gatsby
Everything you need to know about the Great Gatsby, The Great Gatsby is about money love parties. In the great gatsby, Alcohol is illegal at the time and people use to get it in some ways illegal and illegal.what is the purpose of the great gatsby? is it all about love or about money or about making parties? No, The Great Gatsby is about Violence, Violence is the key term in The Great Gatsby main parts of violence come from the character Tom, an ex-footballer and he uses his strength to intimidate people. Fitzgerald used cars to show the violence and badness of wealth, in the climax of the novel someone dies by a car. There is one question that everyone will ask is GATSBY great?
Most of the people will say yes he is great because he has a lot of money he has a big mansion and he has a lot of friends but is he really GREAT? In my opinion, I think that Gatsby is not really great because in the story most of the things that they talk about is love and how much Gatsby love daisy more than Tom, So why did daisy choose Gatsby? She chose him because he is wealthy and very rich he does all these parties to make her love him it’s like how money brings happiness, But later she found her new love, Tom. Tom is just like Gatsby he has a lot of money he has a big mansion and a lot of friends just like him and she married him but did she married him for money? Will yes, but the problem is that Gatsby Daisy to leave her husband, he wants her to tell her husband that she never loved him. She tries to do it but she couldn’t because she love her husband so is her love with Gatsby really true? There is a quote in the great gatsby that said "I never loved him," she said, with perceptible reluctance."Not at Kapiolani?" demanded Tom suddenly. From the ballroom beneath, muffled and suffocating chords were drifting up on hot waves of air."Not that day I carried you down from the Punch Bowl to keep your shoes dry?" There was a husky tenderness in his tone. ". . . Daisy?" (7.258-62) In this quote, it shows how Gatsby is trying to make daisy say that she never loved Tom before but it seemed like it doesn't work it looks like that daisy really liked Gatsby but who does daisy like more..? Is it Gatsby or Tom? If daisy really likes Gatsby then she could leave Tom and go to Gatsby but from all that it means that daisy loves Tom more than Gatsby a lot but why? Of course because of the money or she really love him. Daisy and Tom were sitting opposite each other at the kitchen table with a plate of cold fried chicken between them and two bottles of ale. He was talking intently across the table at her and in his earnestness, his hand had fallen upon and covered her own. Once in a while she looked up at him and nodded in agreement. They weren't happy, and neither of them had touched the chicken or the ale—and yet they weren't unhappy either. There was an unmistakable air of natural intimacy about the picture and anybody would have said that they were conspiring together. (7.409-10)They were careless people, Tom and Daisy—they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made. . . . (9.146).
At the end of the book it seems like that after gatsby death and the murder of Myrtle daisy and tom was back together and they love each other.
"I married him because I thought he was a gentleman," she said finally. "I thought he knew something about breeding, but he wasn't fit to lick my shoe.""You were crazy about him for a while," said Catherine."Crazy about him!" cried Myrtle incredulously. "Who said I was crazy about him? I never was any more crazy about him than I was about that man there." (2.112-4). In this quote is similar to daisy and tom. Tom and Daisy didn’t have a really bad reason to leave each other but in these quotes, it seemed like that they are breaking up and leaving each other. So from all of these examples and quotes, in my opinion, I think that the main purpose is making someone love you by doing what they want in the end they did so from all of that too is an example of how money is not everything sometimes money can kill you.
